Elements of Competency Performance Criteria              
Element: Develop design portfolio concepts
  • Comply with work health and safety (WHS) requirements at all times
  • Establish the purpose and objectives of the design portfolio
  • Research concepts or presentation styles and select ideas and concepts that match the purpose and function of the jewellery or object presentation material
  • Document ideas and concept development using media suited to the presentation style
  • Identify constraints and limitations in presenting jewellery or objects in various formats on and off the body, and determine implications for folio concept
  • Select portfolio concept based on practical considerations and suitability for the function, purpose and objectives of jewellery or objects to be displayed
       
Element: Collect and prepare source materials
  • Collect and prepare drawings, sketches, jewellery, objects and works for photographing, illustrating or other processing
  • Select images that present works on and off the body to portray key features of the item
  • Select display formats for individual portfolio items that emphasise message and meaning
  • Identify and obtain required resources for producing design portfolio
  • Produce required design documentation using appropriate media and formats
       
Element: Compile design portfolio
  • Confirm that the completed portfolio is consistent with aims and objectives
  • Check the completed portfolio for accuracy of content and consistency of arrangement, layout and style
  • Ensure adherence to protocols, conventions and industry standards
       
Element: Finalise drawing for presentation
  • Organise the production of working and reference drawings in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Handle and use working and reference drawings in accordance with SOPs
  • Prepare required supporting information to accompany drawings

Assessment Tasks
